Sunday Services
8 a.m. – Contemporary Service
No programs to follow, casual dress is the norm, and there are lots of praise songs.
9:30 and 11 a.m. – Traditional Services
A bit more traditional with familiar hymns and a more structured liturgical program. Dress is a little less casual. Every other week at the 9:30 a.m. service, deaf interpretation is provided. And communion is offered every Sunday at the 11 a.m. service.
NEW! Saturday Evening Service - 5 p.m.
Do traditional church services leave you wanting more? Is it tough to make it to worship on a Sunday morning? If so, Trinity United Methodist Church’s new Saturday evening worship experience might be exactly what you’ve been looking for. The Gathering begins Saturday, February 11 at 5 p.m. and will be unlike any other worship service you’ve been a part of before. First of all, it takes place in our Gathering Room – not our sanctuary – a much more informal setting. And it mirrors how worship occurred in the early first century church. The term is ancient future worship.
The worship experience will include both moments of loud praise and singing coupled with periods of silent prayer and meditation. Singing bowl made in the 17th and 18th century will help prepare us for a time of worship and prayer, and instruments will be available for the children to play with while we are singing. The room will be set in candlelight, and weekly communion offered along with other stations where grace may be received and healing occur.
“We really want this new worship time to be very family-friendly,” explained Associate Pastor Heath Wilson of Trinity UMC. “It is more than just a time to come and worship. It’s an opportunity to form a body of Christ where we share good and bad, our accomplishments and our failures. We will support each other and walk with each other as we gather together.”
The Gathering is very informal. So come as you are, bring the entire family, and be part of something brand new, yet reminiscently ancient, in worship. “The message of God’s love shown in Jesus is forever,” explained Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Charles Harrell. “But the ways that message touch people’s hearts change a little with each generation. We see that today’s people connect with styles which are as old as the message, but also as new as today. The Gathering brings both together. God is always seeking after us, to gather us to God. People need a gathering place to connect and be refreshed. We want Saturday evening to be a place where both connections get made, over and over again.”
If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a new worship experience where everything is not set in stone and people aren’t about doing it the same way they always have, now is your opportunity. The Gathering begins Saturday, February 11 at 5 p.m. in Trinity’s gathering room. For more information, visit www.trinityumchurch.org or call 410.535.1782.
