Blood Pressure Screenings
On the fourth Sunday of the month, be sure to stick around to have your blood pressure checked. Kendra Hutchins-Johnson, a member of our congregation and a registered nurse, will be on hand to perform free screenings. This endeavor is sponsored by the Health Ministry Team Network at Calvert Memorial Hospital. There will be no screening during the month of the blood drive. Check on the calendar to see when the next blood pressure screening will take place.
Blood Drive
Every other month Trinity serves as the site for the American Red Cross’ blood drive donation. Donations take place on Sundays from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Your next opportunities to give are May 17 and July 19. Come early – stay late - join us for worship and fellowship and help save a life! Walk in’s are always welcome.
Stephen Ministry
Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Pastors will always be on the front lines of care, especially during times of crisis. But there are always many more needs for ongoing one-on-one care than pastors can effectively meet by themselves.
A Stephen Minister is…
- A child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting
- A congregation member with gifts for caregiving, who was carefully selected to serve in this role
- A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
- A caring, Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports and encourages
- Someone who will be there for his or her care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there’s a need
Stephen Ministers Care for People Facing Tough Times
We all experience challenges in life – times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when faced with a crisis or difficulty such as:
- Loss of a loved one
- Hospitalization
- Divorce or separation
- Loneliness or discouragement
- Spiritual crisis
- Unemployment or a job crisis
- A terminal illness

- Incarceration
- Aging
- Birth, adoption, miscarriage or infertility
- A chronic illness
- Relocation
- Recovery after an accident or disaster
- And many more

How does a person become a Stephen Minister?
The first step is to contact the church to let us know of your interest. After that a Stephen leader, will contact the person. The time of training for Stephen Ministers depends on when enough people show a desire to become Stephen Ministers. The dates and time of the training depends on the availability of the group and the leaders of the group.

Reach Out
Trinity’s Reach Out program is love in action as we serve those in our church family with special needs. These include:
- Keeping in touch with our homebound and nursing home residents
- Sending encouraging cards to those experiencing health issues, deaths in the family, birthday, etc.
- Coordinating funeral luncheons
- Preparing meals and delivering them to those recuperating from surgery or treatments on a short-term basis
- Emergency babysitting
- Doing odd jobs for senior citizens (yard work, snow removal, small handyman jobs)
- Providing assistance to those seniors needing help with banking, check writing, filling out forms, etc.
- Member visitation
- Respite care
- Tutoring
- Providing transportation to doctor’s visits, treatment centers, etc.
