Sunday School

Sunday School is available for children and adults on Sundays at 9:15 am.

Sunday school is open to all children ages 2 years old to 12th grade.

We also have multiple adult Sunday School classes beginning at 9:15 am and lasting one hour.

In addition, children are always welcome in the worship services.  As a matter of fact, we believe it is important for our kids to be with us during the service.

We also offer a nursery during all 3 worship services in Room 202 for children ranging in age from infants to 2 years old.

Between the services, please join us for refreshments and a time of fellowship in what we call the gathering room.

Inclement Weather Policy

Sunday Mornings

If it snows on a Sunday morning, the lead pastor will make the decision whether to hold worship or not by 6 a.m.  The congregation will be notified by the following means:  the church's telephone answering machine, website, channel 9 WUSA, 102.9 FM and WTOP's website.

If the 10:30 a.m service is cancelled, the rest of the activities for that Sunday will also be cancelled.

During the Week

If Calvert County government closes, we will cancel all activities and meetings.  This includes church ministries as well as other groups using our facility.  Staff with after hours access to the building who can safely get here may do so, as needed; however they will not be expected to report to the church building if we are closed for the day.

We currently offer the following  services on Sunday mornings.

8:00 am Service - At this service we have a praise team that leads us through some of today’s most popular worship songs. We also have a message for the children and adults. This service is casual so you will see “business casual” attire to blue jeans but you are more than welcome to dress up, we don't mind!

9:15 - 10:15 am  During this time we also offer Sunday School for all ages, including age appropriate Children's Sunday School for all ages from Nursery through Young Adult.  We have also developed new opportunities for Adult Study, including:

  • New Covenant Class - This class meets every Sunday Morning in room 201 (the Parlor in the north education wing) and is a group for sharing together in fellowship, prayer and Bible Study.  The class is now studying "Hospitality - God's call to Compassion."  In the spirit of hospitality, all are welcome and invited to join and meet together.

  • Faith Foundations - This class meets every Sunday morning in the Library, and will take a biblical approach in the discovery and development of our faith.  We will explore the underlying story arc of God's magnificent redemption of all Creation as narrated in the Bible, as well as consider the influence of surrounding cultures; both past and present.  Who wrote the Bible?  What were their motivations and what were they trying to communicate?  Did they borrow from other cultures in its writing, or rather, did the Bible influence culture?  Most importantly, what is the Bible's role in our walk as Christ's disciples today?

  • Contemporary Issues in the Christian Faith - This class meets in room 313, and will delve into the contemporary issues Christians face today and use scripture and book studies to better understand God's perspective and desire for us in our everyday life.

10:30 am Service: At this service we offer a service with liturgy, hymns, a children’s message, choirs, handbells, children choirs, and much more.  You may encounter suits, ties and dresses in this service but you will also encounter "business casual" attire and even blue jeans at this service, too.

Communionion is served at both services on the first Sunday of the month, with a gluten free communion option available.
